Appeal for Body Donation

We in the Department of Anantomy, University College of Medical Sciences and Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital, Delhi need cadavers of individuals, who before their death had expressed their desire to donate their body to a medical college for purposes of teaching and research. We do not accept the bodies of individuals, who had been suffering from contagious diseases like AIDs, or whose bodies have been mutilated due to accident or surgery, as these bodies will not serve our purpose.

Requirements for body donation:

· consent of the relatives of the deceased;

· will expressing the deceased's desire to donate the body, in the absence of which a declaration by a relative of such a desire will be acceptable;

· death certificate from a registered medical practitioner.

The College should be informed within a few hours of the donor's death. The body should be transported to the College by the relatives. In case of difficulty, the College can be asked to help.
